Windows
2024
In his "Windows" series, Vladislav Aksenov explores the theme of interpersonal relationships through the lens of brutal aesthetics and an emotional reinterpretation of everyday objects.
The artist invites the viewer to become a voyeur, lifting the veil on the hidden aspects of human existence. The window frame, as the main element of the works, transforms into a portal, a metaphorical "window into someone else's family."
Through these "windows," we peek at fragments of lives where dramas and conflicts unfold. The works focus on "dirty linen" – a metaphor for family stories where hidden fears, unspoken resentments, and unresolved conflicts lie beneath the facade of outward well-being.
Inviting a voyeuristic experience, the "Windows" series simultaneously provokes the viewer to reflect, transforming each "window" into a mirror reflecting both the other's and one's own experiences. Deliberate minimalism, the rawness of the materials, and the direct statements in the works amplify the emotional tension. Ultimately, Aksenov's series is not just a fixation on the "dirty laundry" in every family, but an invitation to a dialogue about human connections, the boundaries of personal space, and our capacity for empathy.
