SEX ON THE ASPHALT

"Rest 24" on the roads. What hides behind the stencil of a mobile phone number? The artist explores the phenomenon of sex industry advertising in St. Petersburg in a series of works titled "Sex on the Asphalt."
Who is this advertising aimed at, and who are the men leaving the numbers they "dial" from the street? These inscriptions can be found in residential districts and in the city center, near grocery stores. What audience is this advertising targeting? What is their social status and age? Do they have families, or are they single? This category of customers is unknown, as are the identities of the women offering these services.
Another question arises: who are these women, whose names are seen by hundreds of thousands of people each day? There lies a complex backstory surrounding their entry into the industry and its underlying causes. Women's involvement in the sex service market can happen at any age: out of interest or hopelessness, from prestigious professions or poverty, forcibly or by their own decision.
Behind each name and number written on the asphalt is a unique story of life’s journey—a path that leads to the inscription on the pavement.
